In developing these new amplifiers, final set out with the basic approach of creating the amp for its true role – a tool used for listening to music. Where personal taste does not get in the way of the sound, that is, where to the very end, an amp valued not for any particular tone it may exhibit, but as a source to the performer. Every effort has been made to make it possible for the core essence of the sound to come through, with utmost care has invested in both components and design, disregarding the concept of a general amplifier. To put it in concrete terms, the following steps were taken in order to allow reproduction of music with the highest fidelity. 

< High-Speed Circuitry > final amp circuits use no high-capacity condensers ( 0.2 mF or less ). Condensers store and then discharge electricity, starting the flow of electric current. It is impossible to increase the speed of a circuit beyond that of one such storage and discharge cycle. With condensers of one mF or higher in a circuit, there is no way to achieve high-speed operation, no matter how good the circuit is. When an amplifier that is incapable of high-speed operation is used, sounds are superimposed, masking the subtleties in performance. When numerous instruments are playing simultaneously, the sound then becomes distorted. For starters, it becomes impossible to get the sense of transparency in the sound. 

< Stabilizing the Circuits > final amps require no absolutely no tuning. Until now, amps have always seemed to sound their best immediately after being optimally tuned. However, if mismatched parts are used, then attempting adjustments such as semi fixed resistance becomes an exercise in futility. In the first place, even when measures such as using semi fixed resistance are adopted, the resistance of contacts changes with the deterioration that occurs over time, limiting the value in taking time to make the necessary adjustments. Furthermore, incorporating circuitry in an attempt to force stability the amp’s performance changes means the amp is prevented from conforming to the musical signals, resulting in poor sound quality. For this reason, there is nothing in final amps that requires any tuning. This is achieving through uncompromising selection of parts, with circuitry fixed at optimal operating conditions. This makes final amp circuits and performance completely stable, requiring no readjustment, regardless of how many years pass. Furthermore, absolutely no time is needed for warm-up. 

< An Approach Based on Quality of Sound > Test Listening a number of different amps has shown that, even when the data use to measure performance is identical, amps will still exhibit differences in tone. One reason for this discrepancy is that sounds that are characteristically produced when a particular resistor or condenser is used are either superimposed on the music signals, or are omitted. The approach taken with final amps has been to make every effort to eliminate such use of inappropriate parts, and further to use only the minimum number of parts necessary for the amps’ operation. Additionally, every resistor used in a circuit is the most appropriate type for the particular position. And while non-resonating, wide-range condensers are very costly, those exceeding the 60-MHz range are also used. Furthermore, each amp is hand-wired by a single craftsman, start to finish, and printed circuit boards, another are a cause of poor sound, are never used.

< A Clean Power Supply for the Circuits > No matter how good your ingredients are, you simply cannot create a delicious dish using bad water. Similarly, no matter how excellent the circuits and parts in an amp are, the use of ordinary consumer AC electricity itself is a source of degradation in the sound. final amps were conceived from the outset to be battery-powered. We recommend using manganese batteries, as other types of batteries feature narrow frequency range and provide a poorly balanced energy supply. Since batteries are so important to taking full advantage of MUISC-6’s benefits, a full 10 watts stereo is specified for the realization of an ultra high-speed amp. This is because we know that, more than any number of watts you end up with, what is important is how fast you can get the power you want. All this results in the best sound you could want. When you select a DC power supply....

This battery box, a custom design for the MUSIC series of amplifiers, is perfect for people with a high-efficiency speaker system (95dB or higher), or people considering buying one. Battery life drops off dramatically in low-efficiency speaker systems (80-dB class), often as low as several hours. If you listen about two hours a day, and have a high-efficiency speaker system, then you can estimate battery life as:

< Newly Developed Vacuum-Tube AC Power Supply > The power-supply circuit, just like the amp circuit, can affect sound.  The quality of the power supply can change the sound so much that it can even make it appear that a different amp is used. Manganese batteries have been said to be the best choice for amplifier power supplies, but demand from professional users to enable use from a commercial power supply inspired us to develop an AC power supply employing ten vacuum tubes that surpasses the sonic quality obtained with battery power. Use of a commercial power supply always requires an AC transformer.  However, AC transformers have an adverse effect on sound, so we did not want to adopt a conventional approach.  We believed the problem to be how to suppress transformer regulation.  An AC transformer uses induction to transfer voltage from the primary coil to the secondary coil, thereby obtaining the required voltage.  That means that the voltage of the secondary coil fluctuates.  The resulting power from this state of fluctuating voltage is affected by the dynamic load of the amp. That's just not acceptable. At Final Research, we used vacuum tubes to constantly supply a uniform load to the secondary coil, getting a smaller current and voltage from the coil.  This makes the secondary coil of the AC transformer extremely stable.  It also completely eliminates the need for the resistors and small-capacity capacitors that were previously thought necessary for stability in the rectified output.

< The AC Transformer Also Features a Special Design > Winding a number of secondary coils brings the coil to the edge of the core, where induction conditions are poor. So the secondary coils are also wound just one turn at the center of the core, where core conditions are optimal, with two coils used independently on the positive and negative sides.

Other materials such as silver offer high conductivity, making them popular in high-fidelity applications. But one characteristics of silver is that it doesn’t bond with other metals. Also, once you’ve listened to audio over silver and heard how high the impedance is, it’s clear why silver is just another path that leads away from true high fidelity.
